Arizona State Long Term Disability Claims

If you are a governmental employee of the State of Arizona, then you are covered for long-term disability (LTD) should you become unable to work due to a medical condition. The long-term disability plan for Arizona state employees is provided by the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). If you are a state employee, you have paid into the plan through automatic withholding from your paycheck, and may be able to get income replacement benefits if you are disabled and cannot work any longer. Scott E. Davis, P.C., as the leading disability attorney in Arizona, is proud to offer tailored legal assistance to Arizona state employees who have had their long-term disability benefits denied or terminated. We can also provide consultation if you have not yet applied for benefits. Contact Scott E. Davis, P.C. if you have any questions or concerns about your claim.

The Arizona State Retirement System LTD plan is only available to employees of the state of Arizona. This includes public school teachers and educators, public servants, first responders, civic employees, amongst others. This does not include independent or sub-contractors of the state, or Federal government employees who happen to be working in Arizona.

Sedgwick CMS is the administrator of the Arizona State Retirement System LTD plan. Sedgwick is what is commonly referred to as a 'third party administrator', which are paid by employers or insurance companies to process and manage claims under a particular plan. A third party administrator is an ostensibly neutral party, but this is not the case in reality as a third party administrator is paid by the insurance company or employer, and has a motivation to make decisions which are agreeable to the insurance company or employer. Sedgwick is known by plaintiffs' disability lawyers to be one of the worst third party administrator in making egregious denials and terminations.
